Primerica

Primerica Review: Financially Sound Opportunity, Scam, or MLM?

David Sharpe bio

When you think of an MLM, what comes to mind? Maybe you think of a scam or of sleazy salespeople. So you check out a Primerica review to see if it's like those other companies.

If you want to make money online, you have many options. Before you join Primerica or any other option, consider if it's worth your time.

Keep reading to learn more.

What Is Primerica?

Primerica is an insurance company that offers term life insurance, annuities, and other financial products. The company has been in business since the 1970s, and they serve people throughout North America.

Primerica is a multi-level marketing (MLM) company. Because of this, they pay a commission not only on the products you sell but also on the products that your recruits sell.

However, this MLM is different from other companies because you sell insurance. It's not as easy to start as some other companies or other non-MLM affiliate marketing options.

What Do You Need to Join?

Anyone can sign up to join Primerica, but you can't start selling until you become a licensed insurance broker. If you want to sell insurance products, the Primerica opportunity may be for you.

However, it has a higher barrier to entry than many affiliate marketing programs. With a program such as Amazon, you can join and start making money that day.

But if you join Primerica, you have to put in money. You also have to spend time studying for your insurance license.

Only then can you start to sell the products and potentially make money.

Cost to Join

If you've joined other affiliate marketing programs, you probably haven't had to pay. However, Primerica insurance has multiple costs when you join and as long as you want to keep selling it.

When you join, you will need to pay a one-time fee of around $100. Then, you'll have to pay $25 per month to maintain access to your online portal.

But those fees won't exempt you from license or exam fees. You will need to pay to take your insurance license exam, and you may need to pay for classes or tutoring sessions.

Even if you don't take a class, you still have to put in the time to study. That could cost you money by not spending that time on other affiliate marketing options.

Is It a Scam?

When reading a Primerica review, you may come across the word “scam.” Primerica is a public company that you can trade on the stock market.

But that doesn't mean you should work with the company. If you want to focus on affiliate marketing, there are better programs to use.

Primerica requires a lot of work just to start making money. And once you start, you will have to spend a lot of time working.

Calling Primerica a scam may not be entirely accurate. However, it's not a good investment if you want to make money online.

The Problems With Primerica

Primerica has the same problems as other MLM companies. For one, it can be impossible to make money online from it.

Unless you have a massive audience who all need insurance, you'll have a tough sell. Consider a few other issues that make the Primerica MLM a bad business opportunity.

Focus on Recruiting

While you can make some money selling Primerica, you can't advance unless you bring in more people to sell it. If you want to advance even further, your recruits also have to make sales and advance.

You also have to sell more and more in premiums each month. While the first rank can provide some good commissions, you can make much more with a team.

Not to mention you and your recruits have to get insurance licenses. You may not have control over those people, and that can hurt your income potential.

Requires a Lot of Work

One of the benefits of affiliate marketing is that it's not too difficult. You can create a blog and share your favorite products with affiliate links.

But the Primerica opportunity isn't an affiliate program. You will need to work a lot more to find potential customers and get them to buy.

If you do choose to go the recruiting route, you also have to convince people to sign up under you.

All of that takes time and effort. And the payout isn't as great as it could be, especially if you hardly make any sales.

How Much Time Does It Take?

Another thing to consider as part of a Primerica review is the time commitment. When selling Primerica, you need to spend a lot of time upfront getting your insurance license.

Then, you have to spend time finding customers and pitching insurance to them. You may also have to spend time recruiting people.

While you can set your own hours, it's not as flexible as other programs. You may need to call or visit people when they're available, which may be at night or on the weekends.

In that case, you'll have to drive around town. And all of that work doesn't guarantee a paycheck. While no affiliate marketing program guarantees income, many of them are easy enough to do from home.

Can You Make Money With It?

Before you join Primerica, you should consider if it's worth your time and money. You can make money with Primerica, but it will be far from a livable income.

In 2019, representatives made an average of $6,249 all year. But if you can advance through the ranks, you may be able to make $35,000 to $40,000 a year.

Now, if you have a big audience and can sell insurance through a blog, that might be worth it.

But if you have to make phone calls or visits, that isn't worth your time. The average payout is just over $520 per month.

You may be able to use that to supplement your income. However, you're probably better off focusing on other affiliate marketing programs.

A Primerica Review

If you want to expand your income streams, you should consider as many options as you can. But before joining Primerica, read a Primerica review or two.

The company sounds promising, and it is a legitimate company. However, it can be hard to make any money, and it requires a lot of work.
