Norwex Review: Is Home Cleaning the Right MLM For You?

David Sharpe bio

Looking for a completely honest Norwex review that tells you the real deal about signing up to work with this home cleaning multi-level marketing (MLM) company? Well, you've found it.

As someone who has worked for an MLM in the past, I've got the inside scoop on how these companies work, what it takes to be successful, and how an aptitude for marketing is transferrable across several fields.

Bonus: I'll tell you about how you can use marketing skills to make money online. Keep reading to learn more about what you need to know about Norwex.

A Brief Norwex Review

Norwex is a multi-level marketing company that sells cleaning supplies. These are marketed as sustainable and a way to reduce toxins in your home thanks to greener products.

They also make personal care products and towels. Many of their products are made of microfiber, which is an extra-absorbent material, reducing the need for other clean-up products like paper towels.

Consultants sign up generally after being recruited by an existing member. They are independent workers who purchase inventory themselves and sell it to friends, family members, and acquaintances through network marketing.

How Do Norwex Consultants Get Started?

When Norwex consultants are recruited, they sign up and get their first starter kit of inventory.

The Norwex starter kit is free, with just a shipping and handling cost. Valued at $200, consultants agree to sell the products within the starter kit in their first three months. If they do not sell the products, then the credit card they put on file will be charged the full value of the kit (even if they made some sales).

Consultants also purchase their own Norwex supplies at 35% off, a discount that is worth the sign-up for many.

Where Do Norwex Consultants Work?

Norwex suggests that consultants host parties with potential clients so they can see and get hands-on experience with the Norwex cleaning supplies. They can also get booths at markets and craft shows. Many simply sell to people they know out of their own homes.

Norwex permits consultants to have their own website at the Norwex domain so that setting up a retail website is simple and professional.

How Much Can I Make from Norwex?

As with all sales jobs, what you earn is usually very dependent on how much work you invest.

However, Norwex is very tight-lipped about consultants' earnings, even stating in their Policies & Procedures guide that consultants are not to make claims about earnings to others.

Looking at similar business models of MLMs, earnings are typically concentrated toward the top of the uplines, with the earliest consultants profiting heavily off the sales of their recruits.

Recruits, on the other hand, rarely make more than pocket change and some even lose money when keeping inventory in stock they can't off-load.

Why It's a Struggle to Earn

The potential to make money in network marketing is real, but it's not easy. With the design focused on funneling money upwards, new members often struggle to profit until they recruit a downline of their own.

Doing so becomes increasingly hard if the area they sell in is oversaturated with other consultants. This can cut into potential sales and recruits.

But there are still skills that may have attracted a Norwex rep to network marketing or that they have learned while doing it that can help them pivot into other marketing fields.

Should I Join Norwex?

Joining Norwex is of course a personal decision. As someone who has worked with multi-level marketing, it is possible to be successful in them. But I personally found the most success after I left and started tapping into my other marketing skills.

If you believe you've got what it takes for a marketing job online, but you're not really certain about network marketing, you should check out affiliate marketing first.

What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a digital job where you connect potential buyers with products from sellers. It takes many of the same skills that network marketing. uses—like being personable and knowing how to sell a product—and puts them to use in funneling attention to the seller.

You're not involved in the actual sale of the product at all and there is no expensive inventory to maintain. Instead, each time you direct a buyer to a seller, you get a piece of the sale.

How Do I Do That Exactly?

Affiliate marketers connect buyers and sellers by producing top-notch digital content. Have you ever watched a YouTube review on a kitchen gadget and then seen a link to buy it in the creator's description box?

If you bought it after clicking that link, the creator got a small piece of the sale.

There are many types of content that you can use in affiliate marketing, including videos, social media posts on Instagram and Facebook, blog posts on your own website, and more. Most of these content creation hosts are free or low-cost, so you don't have a huge startup cost like you would with Norwex direct selling.

If you're a talented marketer whose got some creativity in their back pocket, content creation for affiliate marketing will be no problem.
