Are you overlooking this?

It’s crucial to strategy.

It helps us NOT look like virtual version of the door to door salesman. 

These guys annoy the heck outta me…

I didn’t ask them to stop by.

I’m in no way interested in what they have to say.

I know right from the start, they only have one purpose…

To make a sale. 

This week I had 3 door to door salesmen ring my doorbell. 

These poor guys are literally walking the streets trying to get eyeballs on what they're selling. 

They don't give two cents about me or any type of long term business relationship.

They want to close a deal and move on. 

The problem…

We don’t want to be sold to.

We want to be connected with. 

Showing up at someone’s front door uninvited usually isn’t going to cut it. 

The same thing goes for your social media content. 

We gotta stop creating videos that feel like a door to door salesman in the feed.

One way to stop looking thirsty for sales…change your Call To Action (CTA). 

So what’s a CTA? 

This is your “ask” at the end of your content. 

It’s the action you want your viewer to take after watching your video. 

Right now in our community there’s a whole lotta of “click link in bio” or “Download my ebook” 

Over…

And over…

And over…

Yes, these are great CTAs but we can’t use them on everything, especially if we are growing a new account and looking for followers. 

Each piece of content you create needs a hook to stop the scroll, a piece of value/edutainment/or something to relate to your audience with, and then a call to action. 

Obviously we all want someone to click our link and buy all the things we recommend.

BUT…

That can’t happen without trust.

Without connection.

Without building an audience. 

If you walk up to a stranger and ask for them to buy, you’re going to get alot of NO’s.

If you do the same in your video content, you’ll get less views, less engagement, and your follower count won’t grow. 

We gotta build our social media “room” with excited followers first before we can present the offer. 

Social media is meant to be social. 

This is where engagement comes in. 

The platforms want to see engagement on your videos in order to show it to more and more people. 

Engagement metrics come from likes, shares, saves, comments, dms, and clicks compared to the number of impressions and views you had. 

The higher the engagement, the more the social media platform will push it out. 

Having the exact same CTA on every video won’t cut it.

Don’t worry…I got you! 

Here are some TOP CTA’s to use when you’re growing an account that are not the same ol’ “click link in bio.” 

  1. Tag A Friend Who Needs to hear this (change friend to mom, co-worker, bestie, whoever makes sense for your ideal audience) 
  2. Double Tap If you Agree
  3. Save For Later
  4. Save For Later and Follow For More
  5. Drop An Emoji in the comments (give them the specific emoji to comment with)
  6. Who’s with me on this? 
  7. Maybe I’m wrong – what do you think? (use this when you are ready to hear a variety of opinions)
  8. What would you add? (After giving tips) Then engage with what viewers add in the comments. 
  9. Can you relate?
  10. Share your xyz moment in the comments (after you shared a story your audience can relate to) 
  11. Why is no one talking about this? Let me know in the comments
  12. What’s your go to (remedy/fix that your ideal audience connects with)? 
  13. Comment if you want a part 2 
  14. Like for part 2 (part 3, part 4, part 5) 
  15. Like if you agree! (Tap the heart if you agree) 
  16. Comment (insert a short fun phrase) for more! 

Also think of it this way…if all your CTAs are “click link in bio” I bet the content in those videos comes across pretty salesy…just like the door to door salesman.

Let your creative juices flow with all the variety of content you can create when you vary your CTAs!
