Scroll hole…

I almost spit out my coffee when I heard it. 

It’s so funny yet sooooo true. 

I’ve been a victim of the scroll hole. 

In fact, I see it as the enemy. 

For me, it’s the killer of focus.

The killer of creativity.

The killer of doing my own income producing skills. 

It’s the time suck that I’m pretty sure all of us fall victim to at some point.

The scroll hole will bury your goals, dreams, and focus.

What’s the scroll hole you ask? 

 It’s the endless scrolling and consuming of content on our social media accounts. 

And it usually ends up with a massive chunk of time of our day completely wasted.

Leaving us with a confused brain and a massive dose of self doubt. 

When we're watching everyone else, it’s easy to start comparing. 

When we're watching everyone else, it’s easy to forget what actions WE should be doing to grow our own business. 

When we're watching everyone else, our education, our goals, our business all get placed on hold. 

But JoAnn…this is digital marketing! 

I have to stay in touch with what’s happening and trending…

You're right…and you're wrong. 

It all depends on how you scroll…and you can't use it as an excuse to endlessly scroll social media each day. 

Scroll with a focus and goal for the day and set a timer if you have to.

Ask yourself these questions beforehand:  

What specifically are you researching? 

What goal do you hope to achieve from the research?

Are you taking notes of your findings and then implementing them? 

Once complete….stop the scroll. 

THEN IMPLEMENT

This is the only way to have productive use of scrolling.

Are there going to be times where you just want to lose yourself and scroll your feed…sure. 

Just be aware that it's probably not helping your education or new business. 

It's just a time suck.

Plus staying out of the scroll hole will actually bring out more creativity, more authentic content and you won’t look like you’re trying to be like everyone else online.
