Today, the telecoms industry contributes around 5% of the UK's GDP, which means it's extremely important in the country's economy. Given that we need to call one another, plus use the internet for a wide variety of reasons, it shouldn't come as a surprise that this industry is so lucrative! This means there's money to be made for you here.
What's interesting is that while most MLM companies focus on tangible products, there's actually one that hones in on telecom services: Telecom Plus.
What is Telecom Plus and is it worth your time to join this MLM company? We'll tell you everything you need to know in this article.
What Is Telecom Plus?
Telecom Plus is a company based in London, UK. It was established in 1996 and first started off as a business that strictly focused on telecoms. Later on, they'd go on to expand their offerings by becoming a supplier of other utilities for consumers.
Telecom Plus is best known for their flagship product, the Smart Box. It allowed customers to plug this device into their phone sockets and make calls at cheaper rates since it'd reroute their calls to more cost-efficient networks.
So what else does Telecom Plus offer? Their services include:
- Mobile phone tariffs
- Broadband internet
- Phone line and internet bundle
Most of the above services are sold by their associated company Utility Warehouse.
How Does Telecom Plus Work?
Telecom Plus works on the same model that all other MLM (multilevel marketing) companies do. There are 2 main components of operation: directly selling products/services and recruiting others to become distributors.
For the first part, it's pretty straightforward. Those who join Telecom Plus will sell the above services to consumers.
Recruitment is a bit more complicated but in theory, is an easier way to make money. Essentially, you get others to join as distributors under you (your downline).
In turn, they recruit others as well, which builds multiple tiers underneath you. The bigger your downline, the more passive income you'll make.
Is Telecom Plus a Scam?
When it comes to MLM companies, many people are wary. This is because the recruiting side of things is almost identical to how pyramid schemes work, and those are illegal.
However, you should know that MLM companies are completely legal since they do offer legitimate products for sale. Depending on which you're looking into, some might have some questionable products that either don't work or are even harmful.
When it comes to Telecom Plus, they're one of the better MLM companies out there. They've won a Company of the Year award before and also ranked in the top 20 for the best MLMs in the world. They're also listed on the London Stock Exchange and have been around for over 20 years.
So as far as Telecom Plus goes, this company definitely isn't a scam. And when compared to most other MLMs, they're one of the more solid choices to go with.
How Do You Join Telecom Plus?
To join Telecom Plus as a distributor, you need to pay them £100 (which is around $140). While most MLMs charge a sign-up fee, Telecom Plus's is on the higher side.
How Do You Make Money With Telecom Plus?
As we've explained above, the 2 main ways to make money through MLMs are by directly selling products/services and growing your downline. Telecom Plus's compensation plan aims to reward their distributors through both.
First, you can get a Customer Gathering Bonus (CGB). You can earn up to 40% per customer if they sign up for Telecom Plus's services through you. On average, you can get a CGB of £20 per customer.
Once you've sold to 6 customers, you'll become a Qualified Executive (QE). This unlocks the Customer Volume Commission (CVC), which gives you up to 5.3% in commission for each customer, so long as you maintain at least 6 per month.
When you hit 10 customers or more, as well as 50 customers in your group (downline), you'll become a Senior Executive (SE). This increases your group CVC and gives you some cash bonuses and eligibility for the Company Car Programme.
When you reach 15 customers and 250 group customers within 12 months, you'll become an Executive Director (ED). This further increases your group CVC.
Finally, you can earn money through infinity payments (get paid for every tier of your downline) and Leader Group Customer Bonuses. You're eligible for the latter once you hit the Group Director level.
Do People Make Money With Telecom Plus?
There's the potential to make a 5-figure (or even 6) income with Telecom Plus. But when it comes to MLMs, pretty much all of them have 1 thing in common: less than 1% of distributors actually make more than $1,000 a year.
To really make money in an MLM, you have to grow your downline instead of selling directly. And to grow your downline, you have to have excellent marketing skills.
These skills take years of studying to develop and most people with no marketing experience find it difficult to get into. As a result, this is why just under 1% of distributors are able to make a decent living with MLMs.
Look Into Affiliate Marketing Instead of Joining an MLM Company
While you can join an MLM company as a distributor and make some money, the reality is, it'll be a long and tough road. And the odds aren't in your favor, considering only a very small minority of distributors can earn a living off MLMs.
If you'd like to get into something similar but with a lower barrier to entry and better chances of making a profit, then you need to look into affiliate marketing. Practically anyone can succeed at affiliate marketing and you won't need to pour tons of effort or money into it. It's a win-win situation!
In order for you to develop your skills, you should consider taking a free or paid marketing course. There are a variety of digital marketing courses you can take from businesses that can help you enhance your skills. As of writing this, over 80,000 new marketers have taken the Online Business Builder Challenge (only $7), and that might be a good starting place for you as well.
